Hall of Fame/Honor


 

The Top Of Ohio Umpire Association Hall Of Honor / Hall Of Fame has been instituted to honor past, present and future umpires who have set a standard of umpiring for all of us to follow . The Hall Of Honor / Hall of Fame honors those individuals who have given of their time and talents to help our Association grow as well as to be able to umpire and set a example that other umpires should follow .

HALL OF FAME CRITERIA

  • A current member in good standing with the Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • May also be a active or retired umpire with Ohio High School Athletic Association in baseball or umpired for a minimum of 15 years as a Ohio High School Athletic Association umpire
  • Must have displayed outstanding character and leadership qualities in and for our Association
  • Must have demonstrated an unusually high degree of success relative to his / her particular sport
  • Success as a umpire should be determined by the degree of respectability given the person by OHSAA , schools we service, as well as other Associations , umpires , coaches , players and fans
  • Has umpired in at least one ( 1 ) Regional or State contest

In the case of sickness or accident or other unforeseen situations a member may be also be nominated even if all of the above criteria are not met

HALL OF HONOR CRITERIA

Hall of Honor criteria will be exactly the same as for the Hall Of Fame except for the following :

  • Has umpired in at least one ( 1 ) Sectional or District contest

NOMINATION GUIDELINE / PROCEDURES

  • Nomination forms will be passed out or given to any member and may be picked up at any of the first three (3) scheduled meetings

  • Nominations are due by the conclusion of the third scheduled meeting of Top Of Ohio Umpires Association
  • Optional supporting materials can be included as part of the nomination , copies of original clippings or photos will be considered as sufficient and will not be returned

THE SELECTION COMMITTEE

The selection committee will have the following :

An appointed chairperson of the committee , he / she will be appointed by the current President of the Top Of Ohio Umpire Association and serve in this capacity till he / she no longer desire to fulfill their duties as chairperson , he / she shall have the authority to appoint a designee on an as needed basis to serve and assist in this capacity

Members may be reassigned to the committee each year

The committee will consist of no more than six ( 6 ) members , they shall be :

  • Chairperson of the committee
  • President of Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • Vice President of Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • Secretary of Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • Treasure of Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • The Secretary / Treasure may be one (1) person depending on our Top Of Ohio Umpire Association / Constitution and bylaws
  • One (1) member , in good standing , from the Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • This group will serve as the executive committee for the Hall Of Fame / Hall of Honor
  • A secretary will be appointed by the chairperson to record the meeting minutes and deliberations of this committee
  • The selection committee must ensure the timeliness of the process
  • A simple majority of four ( 4 ) members in attendance is necessary to conduct a business meeting , or vote
  • This committee as one may not nominate for the Hall Of Fame / Hall Of Honor , individuals from this committee may however do so on their own accord

Selection Procedures

After a review of all properly completed nomination forms , the committee will then determine which candidate(s) are worthy of consideration . The committee will then vote for the nominees they feel qualified for induction into the prospective Hall Of Fame / Hall Of Honor

The vote must be 100% in favor of inducting for any individual to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame / Hall Of Honor

After the first two ( 2 ) classes of inductees , which shall have no maximum number , the third year and each succeeding year , there shall be a maximum number of only four (4) inductees per year

Awards

  • Awards will be presented to new inductees , or if deceased to the appropriate next of kin , or friend , at the last scheduled meeting of The Top Of Ohio Umpire Association
  • Awards will be chosen by the committee to be presented to all new recipients at this meeting , monies will come from the Top Of Ohio Umpire treasury balance

Amendment Procedure

  • Amendments to this document must be approved by 100% vote of the Selection Committee membership at that time
