2014 Hall of Fame
In March of 2014, the Top of Ohio Umpires Association announced their first five Hall of Fame Inductees.
Elected by the Association membership were long time umpires, Joe Ledley, Fred Pestke, Bud Kite, Rocky Teets, and Dean Wasson.

Joe Ledley
1924 – 2013
Born in Columbus, Ohio
Survived by his wife, Jean and two children, Jim Ledley and Janie Seiler
Umpired for 48 years, over 6000 games
Never had a driver’s license
In the 1960’s umpired for $2 a game
Umpired before OHSAA mandated officials be licensed
Veteran of World War II
Took part in the “Battle of the Bulge”
Avid supporter of Ridgemont High School athletics
Joe said “ I just didn’t want the kids not to have an umpire”
Fred Petske
Married Phyllis and has 3 children, Carmen, Mike and Lori
Born in Urbana, Ohio in 1948
Graduated from Urbana High School
Received officiating license in Baseball, Softball, Football and Basketball in 1972
Worked many District, Regional, and State tournament games in Baseball, Softball, and Basketball

Bud Kite
Born 1934 in Urbana, Ohio
Married Phyllis and has 4 children
Graduated from Concord High School (later to become Graham High School
Played baseball after high school for teams at Kiser Lake and in DeGraff
Turned to Men’s fastpitch softball as the interest in local baseball began to fade
Catcher for National Champion Ohio Cavern’s Cavemen
Became a licensed OHSAA umpire in 1959

Rocky Teets
1940 -2006
Married Colleen and had 3 sons, Dan, Brian and Michael
Graduated from Mechanicsburg High School
Played instrumental role in the development of the “Top of Ohio Umpires Assn.”
Served in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne
Avid Trap shooter, becoming Ohio State and Florida State champion to name a few accomplishments
Worked for the Urbana City Parks and Recreation for 31 years
Played a major role in development of ball programs and field development
Became a registered official with OHSAA in 1969

Dean Wasson
Born in Union City, Indiana in 1953
Married to Pam, has two children – Mandy and Joshua
Graduated from Union City Community School in 1971
Attended Milligan College, Johnson City, TN.
Became an Ordained minister in 1982
Has traveled the country performing as a musician and vocalist at concerts and revivals
In 1989 Dean and his family moved from Indiana to Belle Center to accept Pastor position at the Belle Center Church of Christ. He now serves at the West Mansfield Church of Christ
Became registered baseball and basketball official in Indiana in 1979
Became registered in OHSAA in 1988 for baseball, softball, and basketball
Served as instructor for Baseball and Softball umpires for the Top of Ohio Umpires Assn. from 1990 to 2008
Served as President of the Top of Ohio Umpires Association for 12 years.
Served as OHSAA observer for 8 years
